Goodness inside

Twinings is all about people: not just our employees in our factories and offices around the world, but the people who live and work in the communities where our tea and other ingredients are grown. 

So it matters to us that we look after everyone our business touches, improving their lives, enhancing their communities and protecting their environments wherever we can. Here’s an overview of just some of the things we’re doing to help make the world a better place. Women and children do not have to travel so far to access water, so children have more time to attend school

The Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP)

As one of the founding partners of ETP in 1997, we work to monitor and improve the lives of tea workers and their environment. All our tea is sourced from producers who belong to the ETP monitoring and improvement programmes.

Save the Children

We’ve been working with Save The Children since 2004 – to create a better future for vulnerable children in tea-growing communities. For example, in Yunnan Province in China, we’re supporting projects to improve the health and wellbeing of babies and young children.

Water and sanitation in Darjeeling

India’s Darjeeling district, in the foothills of the Himalayas, is a major supplier of tea to Twinings. Since 2010, our Water and Sanitation Programme in the area has helped improve access to clean water and reduce waterborne diseases (like dysentery) for remote rural communities.

International Cocoa Initiative

Cocoa is an important raw ingredient for our powdered drink products. On the Ivory Coast in West Africa, we work with The International Cocoa Initiative to support education and child protection in two of the main cocoa-growing regions.

Fighting discrimination

We always seek to eliminate any form of discrimination in our workplaces. In Thailand, we worked with a packaging supplier to address discrimination against women who were wrongly perceived to be unable to carry out certain roles.

To underline the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to our business, we’ve created a brand for our CSR activities called Goodness Inside. You can watch the video about Goodness Inside on YouTube.
